A sequel to A College of Magics (which I also enjoyed), like its predecessor A Scholar of Magics includes well defined characters and setting. However, A relaxed, almost low-key alternate history fantasy set in an Oxford-esque college in an Edwardian England with just a hint of magic, this book was a nice diversion (particularly when read with /5.

I just finished the book last week, and I have to say, it is definitely one of Caroline Stevermer best works. It's probably one of the most inspiring fantasy novels I have ever read. I really enjoyed it. A Scholar of Magics () is a direct sequel, set in and around Glasscastle.
